Workout Genius supports four different operation modes for the multisport feature.
With Transitions: This is the ideal mode for Triathlon, Duathlon or Aquathlon. The app will insert a transition in between each discipline and will automatically finish the multisport event at the end of the last discipline.
Without Transitions: The app will execute the selected disciplines in order and will automatically finish the multisport event at the end of the last discipline.
Loop With Transitions: The app will insert a transition leg after each discipline and will keep looping through all disciplines in the list until the user decides to stop. Ideal for Swim Run
Loop Without Transitions: The app will keep looping through all disciplines in the list until the user decides to stop.
This app saves every leg as a separated file, so to interrupt a looping multisport activity move to the next leg and discard it, or save the current leg.
The Workout Genius configuration is done at Genius Wrist's website.
It is possible to set up 20 different workouts. Each one with its own data fields, sport selection, layouts, color, lap size, sounds, vibrations, alerts, data screen behavior and more. To learn more about all possible configurations go to general features description page.
The watch can hold three workout setups at once including their order and multisport mode (disabled, with transitions or without transitions).
Each discipline and transition will be recorded in a separated activity session, in other words, a triathlon with transitions will be saved on your watch manufacturer web site as five different activities.
The multisport option is only available if the source of the workouts is set as user selection
All layouts bellow are suggestions. In Workout Genius you can setup multiple data screens and layouts with up to 9 data fields per screen (this number varies depending on depending on the watch model) and you have more than 50 different data fields available for selection.
Fitbit devices:
Press the COG icon.
Garmin devices:
Access the menu option "Select Workout"
The app will open the menu with the option "Multisport (T)" (if you enabled transitions) or simply "Multisport" (no transitions enabled), and swiping or navigating with the up/down buttons will give you access to the sports/disciplines in the list.
If you select one specific sport, the app will execute it normally (in single sport mode). If you select "Multisport" the app will enter multisport mode, and all disciplines/sports in the list will be executed in order.
After selecting multisport and while the workout/race is not started the display will switch to yellow (so it will be clear that multisport is enabled). When starting the workout the color will return to the configured one.
To avoid initiating the next leg or transition by mistake, the app requires two steps and two keys to be pressed.
Fitbit devices:
Press the LEFT button and the screen accent will change to YELLOW to indicate you can press the PLAY button to move to the next leg.
Garmin devices:
Press the lap/back button and the app will show the message "Press start to next leg".
If your watch does not have the lap/back button, use the back gesture.
If the start button is not pressed in 10 seconds the screen will return no normal and the next leg command will be blocked.
Press the "START/PLAY" while the app is waiting to move to the next leg, the app will move to the transition or to the next discipline, depending on your setup.
To finish an activity, just proceed like moving to the next leg. The app will know it is the last discipline and it will end the multisport session.
Fitbit devices:
The activity will be saved and the PAUSE icon will be replaced by the PLAY icon
Garmin devices:
Will notify with the "Multisport finished" message.
This app will not record the multisport session as a single activity in your watch manufacturer web site. Each discipline and transition will appear as an individual activity.
Workout Genius unlocks the ability to record open water swimming activities in any watch. It also provides adequate swim pace fields (time/100 yards and time/100 meters) and if your watch has an optical sensor it will record your heart rate during swimming.
In the example below the data screen has the fields swim average pace, multisport timer and distance.
Be advised that this software cannot increase the accuracy of your watch GPS in swimming activities.
One of the differences between the basic watch models and the high end models is the sensitivity of the GPS antenna. This is a hardware attribute that this software will not be able to circumvent.
This statement is here, because it is of the most importance that you know this software will not turn your vĂvoactive into an Fenix, but it will allow you to perform a multisport activity with a nice interface and with the software capabilities that exist only in high end devices.
This software also adds to high end devices features that might be useful, like the increased number of simultaneous data fields on screen, exclusive auto switch back data screen behavior, distinct vibration patters, and more.
Verify your watch manual to be certain your optical heart rate was designed to work underwater. If that was not the case you can expect some inaccuracy.
In the example below the primary data screen has the fields:

The inclusion of transitions is optional.
The layout and data fields for transitions cannot be edited and they are the following:

Gym Genius is designed to help you perform structured Gym, Yoga or Crossfit workouts.
The app supports weight lifting sets, cardio exercises and the duration of the actions can be defined in terms of number of repetitions, elapsed time, traveled distance, calories spent or the number of steps taken.
It is possible to define rest times and they can be different for each action.
All types of exercises can be combined in a single training session and after the set up of a workout routine, it is just a
matter of letting the watch guide you through the entire sequence.
The app provides fast access to different timers during your gym workouts.
It is suitable for non-structured sessions, timing rest intervals or for simple high-intensity training intervals.
The timers can be configured on the website or directly on the watch.
The data fields on the screen can be customized and multiple sports can be selected for recording.
Workout Builder is designed to help you perform structured running and cycling workouts.
The app guides you through the exercise, and the duration of each action can be defined in terms of distance traveled, elapsed time, calories spent or the number of steps taken.
If an action has a goal like a pace, speed, cadence or heart rate range, the watch will alert you during the workout to stay within the specified zone.
With these ingredients, it is possible to build a great variety of workouts, including intervals, repetitions, progressions, and tempo runs.
