Workout Genius is a general all-around sports-app.
It offers a great variety of screen layouts and more than 50 different data fields to choose from.
Heart rate, pace, speed, and cadence alerts are available and it is a perfect tool for the race day, or for day by day unstructured training.
The app also provides special features for marathoners like a virtual partner with variable speed for different sections of the course, and last but not least, the multisport mode supports triathlon, duathlon, swim-run, and aquathlon.

Increased number of data fields on screen:
  • 1 to 9 on square devices, 1 to 8 on tall devices and 1 to 7 on round devices
  • To improve visibility, the font in each data field will auto adjust size to be as big as possible based on the displayed value and slot size.

Multi Sport Mode: The app supports triathlon, duathlon, aquathlon and swim run and you can add transitions as needed. Configure a different display layout, color, alerts, data fields, lap size (and everything else) for each sport. Use the exclusive multi sport data fields to track data across all sports and transitions.

Virtual Partner: Set up the virtual competitor to race against you and use the virtual partner exclusive data fields.

Training Calendar: Plan your training ahead, add the activities on the calendar and have the correct workouts downloaded to your device.

Alerts: heart rate, pace, speed and cadence alerts are available.

Auto pause: Auto pause will automatically pause your activity session when your speed is slower than 0.35 Km/h or 0.20 mi/h.

Step Based Laps: Configure the auto lap function to start a new lap based on a number of steps. Perfect for indoor stair climbing/elliptical.

Multiple data screens: Define the layout and the data fields for the additional data screen.

  • Auto Switch Back: will return to the main screen after the selected number of seconds
  • Auto Scroll: will rotate through the configured screens
  • Normal: will stay in the selected screen

Free Features

Flexible Layout:

  • Select the number of simultaneous data fields on screen (1 to 5 in the free version)

Sport: Select the sport of the activity session (Running, Hiking, Cycling, Stair and Elliptical Indoor Equip, and many others)

Auto Lap: Configure distance or time based laps (there is also the 'step based laps' premium feature)

Vibration and Sound (if available on your device): It is possible to configure the type of notification for sound and vibration alerts.

GPS (on/off).

Backlight (on/off): the backlight will be activated based on your wrist movement and on alerts like laps or heart rate alerts.

First Run

In the first execution, the app will start with the default setup. The screen will show five data fields including pace, heart rate, distance, timer and cadence. The GPS will be enabled, the selected sport will be walking and the backlight will be disabled. The auto lap will be set to half mile or half kilometer depending on your device configuration.

To change this setup and add new layouts and sport configurations, you MUST create a (FREE) web site account and register your app (free registration).

How to open your watch menu

Basic Operating Instructions

Selecting your sport and display configuration

Workout Genius Editor
The app allows defining the label, sport, GPS, backlight mode, alert preferences, display color, virtual partner and additional data fields.
The configuration is done at Genius Wrist's website. The premium version allows creating 20 different setups.
After a successful configuration, your setup will be available on your watch. Use the SELECT WORKOUT menu option to pick one.

Downloading your setup into the watch

Every time you start the app or finish a workout the app will try to sync with Genius Wrist's website. You can also force a synchronization using the ONLINE SYNC option inside the app menu. The sync process requires a Bluetooth connection between your watch and your mobile phone.

Use the UP/DOWN buttons or PREVIOUS/NEXT gesture (refer to your watch manual) to navigate

Manual Lap

During a workout session use the BACK/LAP key of your device to manually add a lap. If your device does not have these keys, use the BACK GESTURE (refer to your watch manual).

Multi Sport

  • Multi Sport Timer - Track the total event duration across all disciplines and transitions of a multi-sport activity.
  • Leg Number - The number of the current leg. Transitions and disciplines count as legs.

Swimming Pace The app will use time/100yards or time/100 meters depending on your watch selection for distance (miles or kilometers).

  • Pace - The current pace in time/100 yards or time/100 meters.
  • Average Pace - The average pace in time/100 yards or time/100 meters.
  • Maximum Pace - The maximum speed recorded during the timed activity, in time/100 yards or time/100 meters.

Heart Rate Zone
The zone information table used by the software to calculate the heart rate zone data fields is the one configured in your watch settings.

  • Heart Rate Zone - Number that indicates with precision your hear rate zone based on your current heart beats per minute.
  • Percentage of Maximum Heart Rate (hr% of max) - Number from 1 to 100 showing your current heart beats per minute as percentage if your maximum hear rate
  • Percentage of Heart Rate Reserve (%hrr) - Number from 1 to 100 indicating your current heart beats per minute as percentage of your heart rate reserve

Lap

  • Lap Heart Rate - The average heart rate for the current lap.
  • Lap Pace - The average pace for the current lap.
  • Lap Speed - The average speed for the current lap.

Last Lap

  • Last Lap Heart Rate - The average heart rate for the last lap.
  • Last Lap Steps - number of steps of last lap.
  • Last Lap Distance - Distance covered in the last lap in miles or kilometers.
  • Lap Time - Elapsed time of the last lap.
  • Last Lap Pace - The average pace for the last lap.
  • Last Lap Speed - The average speed for the last lap.

Cadence Divided by 2
This data fields where specially designed for use in activities, where you want to display complete movements (backward and forward) as one.
Your internal watch sensor will not report cadences lower than 80 (40 for cad by 2). Any value lower than that will be shown as zero. The bike cadence sensor does not have this limitation.

  • Cadence divided by 2 - The current cadence in revolutions per minute or steps per minute, depending on the sport, divided by 2.
  • Average cadence divided by 2 - Average cadence in revolutions per minute or steps per minute, depending on the sport, divided by 2.
  • Maximum cadence divided by 2 - The maximum cadence recorded during the timed activity in revolutions per minute or steps per minute, depending on the sport, divided by 2.
This data fields will not change the way your watch record the data in your activity session, they just provide more useful information during you training.

  • Lap Steps - The number of steps of the current lap.

Virtual Partner

  • Virtual Partner Time - The amount of time ahead or behind of the virtual partner. A negative number indicates the virtual partner is behind you and a positive number indicates the virtual partner is ahead.
  • Virtual Partner Distance - The distance (in Km or Miles depending on your device configuration) ahead or behind of the virtual partner. A negative number indicates the virtual partner is behind you and a positive number indicates the virtual partner is ahead.
  • Virtual Partner Speed - The configured speed of the virtual partner.
  • Virtual Partner Pace - The configured pace of the virtual partner.

Steps

  • Total Steps - The total number of steps of the timed activity.

Pace

  • Pace - The current pace in min/mi or min/km.
  • Average Pace - The average pace in min/mi or min/km.
  • Maximum Pace - The maximum speed recorded during the timed activity, in min/mi or min/km.

Speed

  • Speed - The current speed in mi/h or km/h.
  • Average Speed - The average speed in mi/h or km/h.
  • Maximum Speed - The maximum speed recorded during the timed activity, in mi/h or km/h.

Heart Rate

  • Heart Rate - The current heart rate in beats per minute.
  • Average Heart Rate - The average heart rate in beats per minute.
  • Maximum Heart Rate - The maximum heart rate recorded during the timed activity in beats per minute.

Distance

  • Distance - Total distance covered during the timed activity in mi or km.

Time

  • Timer - Elapsed time of the activity.
  • Timer in Minutes - Elapsed time of the activity in minutes and seconds. After 60 minutes the display will not change to hours and minutes. For example 1 hour and 33 minutes and 27 seconds will display like this 93:27.
  • Clock - Time of day.

Lap

  • Lap Number - The current lap in the activity session.
  • Lap Distance - Distance covered in the current lap in mi or km.
  • Lap Time - Elapsed time of current lap.

Altitude

  • Altitude - The altitude in meters or foot.
  • Total Ascent - The total ascent in meters or foot.
  • Total Descent - The total descent in meters or foot.

Cadence

Your internal watch sensor will not report cadences lower than 80. Any value lower than that will be shown as zero. The bike cadence sensor does not have this limitation.
  • Cadence - The current cadence in revolutions per minute or steps per minute, depending on the sport.

Power

Power data fields require and external power meter properly paired with your watch.
  • Power - The current power in watts.
  • Average Power - The average power in watts.
  • Maximum Power - The maximum power recorded during the timed activity in watts.

Calories

  • Calories - The current calories burned during the current activity being recorded in kcal. The algorithm that calculates calories is part of your device firmware. It was defined by Garmin and in most scenarios it requires heart rate information.
  • Energy - Momentary energy expenditure in kcal/min.

Positioning

  • Heading - The current true north referenced heading in radians.
  • GPS signal - the values can be: not available, poor, usable or good.

Other

  • Training Effect - The activity's level of effect on aerobic fitness.
  • Temperature - Temperature in Celsius or Fahrenheit depending on your device configuration. Only works with an external TEMPE sensor.
  • Battery - The remaining battery in percentage.

Select the sports: Define the order and the number of sports to be executed.

Enable transitions: Enable transitions as needed when moving to next leg.

Four operation modes available: With transitions, without transitions, loop with transitions and loop without transitions.

Training Calendar

Plan your training ahead, add the activities on the calendar and have the correct workouts downloaded to your device. After the set up of your training schedule, the app will download the right exercises on your device during the online sync process.
All Genius Wrist's apps are integrated into the calendar.

Activity Feed

You can track your completed workout details in the activity feed.

Time, duration, calories, heart rate, distance and the list of exercises you performed will be listed.

Genius Wrist's system will give your workout a score. The points are based on the perceived effort during the activity. That means the same workout can have different values every time you execute it. The score will be very low if you do not measure your heart rate during the workout sessions.

The activity feed displays the individual result of each workout and stats page will give you a broader view of your gym activities.

The system will track the calories, duration, distance, number of sets, number of activities and the score of your workouts, allowing you to follow your monthly progression.

Achievements

The achievements system will level you up based on the number of points you score in each of your workouts. The scoring system gives points based on perceived effort, not fitness level, that means, the easier the exercise is perceived by you, the fewer points you will score. That way you are stimulated to keep your workouts on a challenging level.

Single app: As the name states you will have access to only one of our apps. Just go to the desired app configuration page and click the "Get a license" button.

The Gym Apps Combo: Gym Genius and Gym Timer Pro are two parts of a single solution. If you buy the license for one of the gym apps, you will receive premium access to the other.

Bundle: In bundle mode you will have access to the premium version of all sports-related apps. The licensing rule is simple, as long as you pay for two sports-apps, the system will grant you premium access to the others.
